Stand By You Foundation is dedicated to empowering care, transforming lives, and making a positive impact globally. Our mission is to unite communities and create lasting change through compassion and support.

How we got started

Hilda Cassert started the Stand By You foundation when she was 100 years old. After growing up as a Jewish refugee from Nazi Germany, and living a full life, Hilda had a stroke which confined her to a nursing home. Inspired by the many women who had supported her in the twilight of her life, Hilda began to dream of starting an organization that would stand by people in need in the same way that these women stood by Hilda, bringing her joy, comfort and strength. Hilda wanted to stand by others in their most vulnerable moments.

Hilda approached her friend, Lee Alton, to share the vision and Stand By You was born in 2016. Hilda passed away at age 103 but her legacy lives on. Stand By You is an active granting foundation, helping a variety of leaders and organizations reach more, help more, and do more for those in need.

Lee Alton, President

Lee serves as the president of the Stand By You Foundation. A retired US Air Force Colonel and Air Force Academy grad, he spent 26 years in the service, and completed two combat tours of Vietnam. He commanded several flying and support organizations as well as starting his own Daily Money Management company where he helped individuals to manage their day-to-day finances. Lee has also served as the Director of Operations for Along Side Ministries, where they helped incarcerated men and women transition back into the civilian community.

Tim Horn

Tim is a successful businessman and the former Director of Tim Horn Companies and Managed Care Software. He's also worked in high management roles at a wide range of other companies. Now, he devotes his time to finding ways to give back to the Scottsdale community.

Bob Jurgens

Bob is an Indiana native that graduated from I.U with degree in economics. He worked in Sales, GM of several plants and spent seven years in international sales establishing distributors in Europe, Asia, and SA. Bob was also the president of a printing company and owned a manufacture rep firm. He moved to Arizona in 2000 and attends Scottsdale Bible Church, in Scottsdale, AZ. Bob is married, has 4 children, 10 beautiful grandchildren.

Assist other nonprofits in their endeavor to find new solutions to meeting individual and societal needs through new approaches and innovative thinking.

Support leadership development and organizational effectiveness through training and developmental programs to increase their beneficial impact on their community

We are committed to a strong ethic of timely, reliable service to nonprofits of all sizes and types. We look for opportunities to assist other Private Foundations in meeting their goals and expanding their reach and effectiveness.

Statement of Faith

We believe in the Scripture of the Old and New Testament as being verbally and completely inerrant in the original writings and of supreme and final authority in faith and life.

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary and is true God and true man. The Holy Spirit was sent by the Father as promised to convict the world of sin, to glorify Jesus and to transform the lives of believers into the likeness of Christ.

We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born separated from God with a sinful nature.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who personally place their faith in Him are redeemed and justified on the basis of His shed blood.

We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, His ascension into heaven, and His present life for us as High Priest and Advocate.

We believe in the 'Blessed Hope;' the personal and imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God, a relationship in which they are eternally secure.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust; the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost along with Satan and the other fallen angels.
